The tradition of eye care excellence at Berkeley Eye Center spans more than 60 years. Recognized as a pioneer in refractive surgery, Ralph G. Berkeley, M.D., began practicing in Houston in 1961 and began performing refractive surgery in 1979. The practice he began more than 60 years ago has continued to expand with the addition of doctors, locations, services and technology.
As pioneers in the field of cataract and refractive surgery, our surgeons continue to set the standard in the field of LASIK laser vision correction, cataract removal and implantation, retina care and glaucoma management.

THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY AND RESEARCH
With a tradition of excellence that spans more than 60 years, Berkeley Eye Center has been a leader in technology and research in the ophthalmic and optometric fields. Throughout the years, we have continued to participate in multiple clinical trials to study new procedures and technology related to ophthalmology.
Our pioneering efforts with LASIK began as participating members of the original clinical trials on Laser Vision Correction. Today, Berkeley Eye Center is proud to be the first and only LASIK provider in the greater Houston area to offer the iDESIGN Refractive Studio. iDESIGN allows us to provide our patients a next-generation level of LASIK customization with a single, three-second scan of the entire human optical system.

Berkeley Eye Center is also proud to offer EVO ICL, one of the latest advancements in vision correction technology. This innovative Implantable Collamer® Lens provides an effective solution for those looking to correct nearsightedness, with or without astigmatism, without having to remove any of their corneal tissue. With this technology, patients are able to reduce their reliance on glasses and contacts while experiencing improved clarity during a quick outpatient procedure. The lens can also be removed by a doctor later if needed, offering an added peace of mind for some patients.
