Houston Blepharoplasty / Eyelid Lift Surgery
Berkeley Eye Center performs a wide range of surgical and non-surgical blepharoplasty and eyelid procedures that tighten sagging eyelids and remove under-eye bags, making your eyes look more youthful and vibrant.
Your eyes are one of the first things people notice when they look at you. Unfortunately, eyes are also one of the first places on the face that start to show signs of aging. The cumulative effects of age, gravity, and overexposure to the sun can result in wrinkles, sagging, and droopy eyelids. This can give the face a tired and exhausted look.
Our Houston blepharoplasty surgery can restore a more youthful and alert appearance by removing excess eyelid skin, lifting the eyelids, and removing excess fat around the eyes.
Upper and Lower Eyelid Lifts
We perform upper and lower eyelid surgeries — with many patients choosing to have both procedures done. Our goal is to give you natural and rejuvenated results, while avoiding the “overdone” look– people won’t know that you had surgery unless you tell them.
If your eyelids droop so low that it blocks your vision, then eyelid surgery may be a medical necessity and can be covered by your insurance.
Upper Blepharoplasty/Upper Eyelid Lift
The objective of an upper eyelid blepharoplasty is to remove excess skin that weighs your lid down so that your field of vision is improved. This also makes one appear younger and more alert. Usually, the incision is concealed in the eyelid’s natural crease. Sometimes, the drooping is caused by weakness of the eyelid and not by extra skin. In this case, the muscle that raises the upper lid is tightened with the incision hidden under the eyelid. Depending on the patient, any protruding fat is sculpted, excised, or repositioned to rejuvenate the upper eyelid.
Lower Blepharoplasty/Lower Lid Bag Surgery
Over time, fat begins to protrude through the lower eyelid skin causing the formation of under eye bags. Also, loss of fat in other regions of the cheek due to facial descent can result in hollowing beneath the eyes. Neither is a flattering look and can give a premature aged appearance.
In our lower blepharoplasty/lower eyelid lift procedure, the fat that causes bags to form beneath the eyes is removed or repositioned to fill in areas of hollowing. The incision is hidden on the inside of the eyelid. Any excessive skin is removed or tightened.
Under eye hollowing (tear trough) can also be treated non-surgically with injectable fillers that smooth the lower eyelid contour and eliminate the appearance of under eye bags.
Out-patient Procedure
Berkeley Eye Center’s Houston blepharoplasty is a minimally invasive outpatient surgical procedure that only takes an hour or two to complete. This procedure can be combined with other cosmetic procedures such as a forehead and eyebrow lift. The swelling and bruising usually goes away in a week or two, depending on the procedure. We know you’ll love the natural, youthful results!
