Erin Andrew Doe, M.D., is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, as well as the American Glaucoma Society. A Phi Kappa Phi and distinguished cadet, Dr. Doe received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduating from Duke University School of Medicine, he completed an Internship and Residency in Ophthalmology at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Dr. Doe served as a Flight Surgeon with the U.S. Army before completing a Glaucoma fellowship with the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. He served as the Assistant Chief and Director of Clinical Operations for the Ophthalmology Department at Brooke Army Medical Center for four years.
Dr. Doe has performed thousands of cataract, glaucoma and laser procedures and has spent six years full time teaching Ophthalmology residents. He was named “Teacher of the Year” in 2002 for his instruction of ophthalmology residents at Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Medical Center. He has published numerous articles in leading Ophthalmology journals. He has been recognized by his patients with a Vitals Patient’s Choice Award and a U.S. News & World Report Patients’ Top Choice Award.
In addition, Dr. Doe received the Robert E. Lee award from West Point for Mathematics and was a semifinalist for the Rhodes Scholarship in 1987. Dr. Doe has received three Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation medals and the Expert Field Medical Badge. Dr. Doe has led or participated in some eight Humanitarian Missions in El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico from 1997 to 2004. Dr. Doe and his wife, Paulene, are the parents of four sons and two daughters.
Dr. Doe is the primary Katy Ophthalmologist at Berkeley Eye Center.
