Elaine Steffensen, O.D., is a board-certified therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist. Dr. Steffensen earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She then graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During her studies, Dr. Steffensen completed research on multifocal contact lenses. She presented her work at multiple conferences and was published in a peer-reviewed journal.
After her schooling, Dr. Steffensen completed a post-doctoral residency at University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. There she gained experience in the management of complex ocular disorders and in fitting specialty contact lenses. Dr. Steffensen was selected to lecture to optometry students and gave multiple continuing education lectures to local optometrists. Before coming to Berkeley, Dr. Steffensen also worked at a commercial practice providing primary eye care to patients of all ages.
Dr. Steffensen is an active member of the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She enjoys giving back to the local community and is excited to serve the greater Houston area.
