Kelsea Skidmore, O.D., is a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist. She provides routine and medical care, with a focus on medically necessary contact lenses for irregular corneas and myopia management in children.
Dr. Skidmore grew up in Greenville, TX. She attended the University of Arkansas and was a member of the Razorback swim team. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, a Master’s degree in Vision Science, and graduated summa cum laude with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. Dr. Skidmore received multiple Clinical Letters of Excellence, and was a member of the Gold Key International Honor Society and the International Optometric Honor Society, Beta Sigma Kappa. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, as well as a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society, where she is active with the education committee and lectures on scleral lens fitting and management.
Her research background and passion is fitting customized contact lenses for patients with complicated ocular conditions such as keratoconus, cornea transplant, severe scarring, advanced dry eye, high astigmatism and post-surgical complications. She has vast experience with all types of specialty contact lenses, including scleral lenses, gas-permeable cornea lenses, custom soft contacts, prosthetic lenses, and orthokeratology. Dr. Skidmore also provides surgical co-management following LASIK, cataract, and other refractive procedures.
In addition to providing patient care at our office, Dr. Skidmore is also adjunct faculty and conducts clinical research studies at the University of Houston College of Optometry. Her current research focus is on ocular surface disease and contact lens health in children. Dr. Kelsea Skidmore is a member and active participant of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), Texas Optometric Association (TOA), Harris County Optometric Society (HCOS), and American Optometric Association (AOA).
In her free time, Dr. Skidmore enjoys swimming, yoga, and traveling with her husband and family.
