Meredith Horacek, M.D. is a comprehensive ophthalmologist, specializing in cataract and refractive surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and comprehensive medical eye care for glaucoma and diabetes. As a native Texan, Dr. Horacek is thrilled to be in her home state, serving patients at Berkeley Eye Center in the Katy and Brenham locations.
After growing up in Austin, Dr. Horacek attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Nutritional Sciences. She attended medical school at the UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine. After graduation, she completed her intern year at MacNeal Hospital in Chicago, where she was awarded Intern of the Year. She then completed her residency in ophthalmology at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year.
Dr. Horacek is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and Texas Medical Association. She has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national meetings. Her clinical interests include cataract surgery, speciality intraocular lenses, and eyelid procedures including blepharoplasty and chalazion removal. In addition, she was selected by her state society to serve as a resident advocacy ambassador at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Mid Year Forum in Washington D.C. and continues to be interested in advocacy for her field and her patients.
In her free time, Dr. Horacek enjoys cooking, traveling, hiking, and spending time with her husband and daughter. She finds incredible fulfillment in her work as an ophthalmologist and is excited to serve the community for years to come.
