Nikki Kokel, OD, FAAO, is a Certified Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma specialist at Berkeley Eye Center’s Pearland location. Dr. Kokel provides routine and medical eye care along with specialized contact lens and myopia control management.
Following graduation at the top of her high school class, Dr. Kokel received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry. Upon graduation, Dr. Kokel completed an Ocular Disease Residency at the Eye Center of Texas in Bellaire, as well as becoming a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
During her time at the University of Houston, she earned numerous scholarships and awards and was inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Kokel was active in many student organizations and traveled to Kenya, Africa, with the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, to provide eye care to the underserved.
Before joining Berkeley Eye Center in 2017, Dr. Kokel worked with other Houston area practices and served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry.
Dr. Kokel is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometric Association. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and two young children.
