Dr. Sarah Amanullah is thrilled to join Berkeley Eye Center to serve the patients of Southeast Texas in the Atascocita and East Houston offices. Dr. Amanullah is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist. She is excited to offer a variety of specialty lenses including toric and multifocal/presbyopia-correcting lenses, as well as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS).
Dr. Amanullah received her Bachelor of Arts with high honors in Human Biology from Harvard University. She graduated magna cum laude from medical school at Thomas Jefferson University, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society as a junior. She stayed in Philadelphia to complete her residency in Ophthalmology at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital. Upon completing her residency, she stayed at Wills Eye Hospital to continue her medical training with a fellowship in Global Ophthalmology. During this wonderful fellowship year, she traveled throughout sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and South America to perform and teach eye surgery, providing free services to help alleviate the burden of preventable global blindness. She also spent several months teaching the Wills Eye residents in clinic and in the operating room.
She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Texas Medical Association. Outside of work, Dr. Amanullah loves to be outdoors, travel, and spend time with her family. She is committed to individualized care and is excited to work together with her patients to reach their vision goals.
