Our LASIK procedures are performed in the comfort and safety of a specially designed laser suite at Berkeley Eye Center. To help reduce possible risks and complications, factors such as humidity, temperature and overall air quality are closely monitored and maintained.
Upon arrival, you and your guest will be invited into our internal waiting room. You meet with the surgeon, who will provide a final exam and answer any questions you or your guest may have. The preparation and ‘relaxation’ takes the majority of time, then the laser correction begins – 60 seconds or less – in reality.

At Berkeley Eye Center, we offer one LASIK price, regardless of your correction needs. We are not the lowest price provider of LASIK, nor are we the highest price provider of LASIK. Flex Spending and Health Savings Accounts
One of the best ways to pay for a portion of your vision correction procedure is by setting the pre-tax dollars aside in your corporate Flex Spending (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA). You could save nearly $1,000!
Plus - most FSA accounts are available to use in January, so you may be eligible to spend your FSA dollars before you've actually accrued them.

- Current Prescription: Some eye surgeons charge more for people with worse visual acuity. At Berkeley Eye Center, we give you the same price as every patient for your vision correction procedure, regardless of the severity of your prescription.
- Insurance And Vision Plans: Most medical/vision plans consider Laser Vision Correction an elective procedure. However, some vision plans offer a discount on LASIK. Call our team to find out about your plan.
- Experience: Surgeons with the most experience tend to charge a bit more because they bring lots of expertise to the table unlike newer surgeons. Our doctors have helped more than 60,000 patients see better with LASIK!
- Technology: Vision centers that invest in the latest, safest technology often charge slightly more to cover the costs of new lasers. Berkeley Eye Center continually strives to offer our patients the advantages of the most advanced technology available.
- Cash / Money Order / Cashier’s Check - Berkeley Eye Center offers a 5% discount to LASIK patients who pay cash for their procedure.
- Combinations – Cash, Credit (including Flex) and/or Financing (with approved credit; see options below.)
- Credit Card – We accept most major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
We’re pleased to offer our patients the CareCredit® card, North America’s leading patient payment program for healthcare services. Eligible patients can get 0% or low monthly payment plans for healthcare procedures not commonly covered by insurance, including LASIK and refractive procedures.
A native Corpus Christian, Adam L. Spengler, M.D., graduated from Mary Carroll High School where he played on the Tiger’s soccer team.
Dr. Spengler then attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science. He then attended the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where he was elected to the Junior Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society, an opportunity awarded only to the top five percent of his class. He was also a member of the Student Surgical Association and American Medical Student Association and was published in the Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal.
Following completion of his medical degree, Dr. Spengler completed a transitional internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, and an Ophthalmology Residency at University of Texas at Houston, where he served as chief resident in his final year.
Dr. Spengler then joined the team of ophthalmologists at Berkeley Eye Center and initially practiced at its Houston locations before returning home to assume the role of physician at Berkeley Eye Center Corpus Christi.
Dr. Spengler has participated in many community and volunteer activities, such as providing free vision screenings, health screenings and volunteering with the Habitat for Humanity.
Dr. Spengler is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, as well as the Texas Medical Association and American Medical Association. His professional interests include glaucoma, cataract and refractive surgery. In his spare time, Dr. Spengler enjoys fishing, hunting, golfing, reading, auto-work and jogging, among other pastimes.
